To be authentic

Lovers of all sorts wish to be related to for they believe there's nothing more romantic than someone who's so similar in life and upbringing. But this a grave misunderstanding on what love is. How simple it is to adore someone so similar to you, a mirror of yourself to validate your being. But if love came so easily, is it as strong as it seems? Being authentic to another, truly yourself, and to be accepted whilst giving out more truths about you in despite of the fear of being rejected. There is a beauty in this. A type of romance not based on similarities but based on the acceptance of difference.

It's effortless to say "I love you because..." but have you ever thought of how significant it is to love in despite of? In despite of all your shortcomings, in despite of all your weaknesses, in despite of what you cannot provide, you are loved in despite of. For love isn't tested by what someone can do, but is tested by what someone cannot. For someone so different to see you in all your glory, and make the decision to support and love you as you are. It truly is a sovereign type of affection. One independent of what you can and cannot give. One that will hold true no matter the amount of truths revealed to another.

Needless to say, the basis of love shouldn't be compatibility but authenticity. For someone should love in despite of, not because. For that is where love stands strongest.
